Pokemon XY Fan Series Episode 46

Episode 46: Sherman vs. Ramos: Focus, Patience, and Concentration.

After we did a lot of Christmas stuff yesterday together, the next morning, Ash and I got up really early, along with our Pokemon, as we start training up for the Coumarine City Gym, And yes, today’s the day we will battle Ramos, the Coumarine Gym Leader. Ash and I plan to do a Triple Battle as Ash use his Fletchinder, Frogadier, and Hawlucha while I use my Hawlucha, Grovyle, and Charmander.

Sherman: Hawlucha and Grovyle, use Aerial Ace! (Sherman's Hawlucha and Grovyle use Aerial Ace as they fly up to Ash’s Hawlucha and Frogadier, respectively as a sleepy Charmander watch as he rubs his eyes)

Ash: Hawlucha, use Karate Chop to block it! You too, Frogadier, with Cut! (Ash’s Hawlucha and Frogadier use their moves to block their opponent’s attacks)

Sherman: Grovyle, Leaf Blade! (Grovyle finds Frogadier’s opening as he uses Leaf Blade, slamming Frogadier severely)

Ash: Frogadier, you okay? (Frogadier nods yes) Okay, now use Double Team! (Frogadier creates clones of himself)

Sherman: Grovyle, Bullet Seed! (Grovyle shoot Bullet Seed at a lot of Frogadier)

Ash: Use Cut to deflect it back! (Frogadier unleashes a needle as he deflects a lot of Bullet Seed back at Grovyle, Charmander, and Sherman's Hawlucha)

Sherman: Hawlucha, Detect! (Hawlucha runs up to Grovyle and uses Detect to protect himself and Grovyle from Bullet Seed. As for Charmander, despite being not very effective, he gets hit by Bullet Seed)

Ash: Way to go, Frogadier! (Frogadier thanks Ash)

Sherman: Charmander, you okay? (A tired Charmander nods yes) Use Rock Tomb on Fletchinder! (Charmander summons the rocks as they aim towards Fletchinder)

Ash: Fletchinder, use Steel Wing ! (Fletchinder glows his wings as he slams towards the rocks, destroying them) Now use Razor Wind on Charmander! (Fletchinder shoots out Razor Wind at Charmander)

Sherman: Smokescreen! (The sleepy Charmander was too late as he was hit by Razor Wind)

Ash: Awesome job, Fletchinder!(Fletchinder thanks Ash)

Sherman: (Walks up to Charmander) Charmander? (Charmander says sorry that he was tired) I know, Charmander, but we had to get up early so we can train up. Furthermore, I need you for the Coumarine Gym, and that will be your first gym battle you will go to. (Grovyle, Buizel, and Sherman's Hawlucha agree as Charmander nods in response and yawns at the same time)

Ash: (Looks at his Hawlucha, Fletchinder, Goomy, Buizel, Pikachu, and Frogadier) Well, you guys! Today’s the day we get our Coumarine City Gym Badge from Ramos! So let’s give it our all! (Ash’s Pokemon cheer as Ash looks at his Buizel) Well, Buizel. After we eat breakfast, I’m taking you back to Prof. Oak’s Lab, okay? I’m sure we’ll travel again soon like old times. Promise. (Ash’s Buizel smiles at Ash as he smiles at Sherman’s Buizel, who smiles back)

(Pokemon Center Cafeteria)

Clemont: So, are you and Sherman ready to battle Ramos after breakfast?

Ash: You bet, Clemont! Besides, we trained up our Pokemon this morning, right, Sherman?

Sherman: Yeah…

Ash: Something wrong?

Sherman: I’m fine, but Charmander’s really tired. I know we had Christmas yesterday, along with Meyer before he left this morning, but I need him to get focus on the battle today.

Lara: I don’t know, Sherman. He might need some more rest.

Samantha: She’s right. Maybe we can go to the gym later after Charmander’s good night sleep. (Charmander groans, but Buizel had to walk up to him and told him it’s for his own good)

Ash: Really? I want to have a gym battle now! Do you know how long we were on Route 12?

Sherman: Two weeks. But we do have to help a few people on that route like Carl, Lara, Clemont’s Luxio, Sanpei, The Lapras Defense Corps. Nini, Grace, and Goomy, not to mention the Summer Camp we attended.

Samantha: He’s got the point. Besides, you’ve been traveling for 6 years and we traveled together for like, a month now.

Ash: Yeah, but we spent two weeks on Route 12.

Samantha: Exactly! Just like we spent a week and a half from Santalune to Cyllage!

Clemont: Not to mention we traveled through Lumiose, Camphrier, and Ambrette before we got to Cyllage City.

Bonnie: Right.

Serena: Just like we all learn from our experience for the league or the showcase back when you told us at the Summer Camp, and that nothing is a waste of time.

Ash: Yeah, you’re right.

Ash’s Buizel: (Well, after breakfast, it’s time for me to say goodbye.)

Sherman's Buizel: (Yeah, hope we battle each other one day.)

Ash’s Buizel: (Yeah, looking forward to it. I’m happy to get to meet you!)

Sherman's Buizel: (Same here!) (Gives Ash’s Buizel a handshake)

Charmander: (Hey, Sherman? You guys can go to the gym. Even though I’m tired, it’s my fault that I didn’t get a lot of sleep, and I don’t want to hold you guys up.)

Sherman: Are you sure, Charmander? Lara said you need some rest after the party last night.

Charmander: (Don’t worry about it. I’ll be fine in the battle today.)

Sherman: Alright, but I’m just concern of you.

Charmander: (Like I said, I’ll be okay. Promise.)

Sherman’s Buizel: (Okay, Charmander. Like we taught you during training, you need to be alert and focus in battles.)

Charmander: (Got it.)

Lucario: (And Charmander. Good luck.)

Charmander: (Thanks, Lucario. I’ll give it my all!)

Serena: Aren’t you sad that our present from your mom and Prof. Oak will come late, Ash?

Ash: Don’t worry about it, Serena. I’m sure it’ll come.. For now, after we eat, we focus on getting our fourth gym badge!

After we had breakfast at the Pokemon Center, we say goodbye to Ash’s Buizel as he was sent back to Professor Oak’s Lab before the rest of us head out of the Pokemon Center as we head to the Coumarine Gym. Once we got there, we saw a gym as it looks like a giant tree.

Ash: So this is the Coumarine Gym, right?

Clemont: Yep! That’s the one!

Sherman: (To Clemont) If I recall, Ramos is a Grass-Type user, right?

Clemont: Exactly! Ramos is an old growth who is still in bloom! He also likes tea and owns a garden scissors for 30 years.

Lara: Wow, he must be good at gardening!

Clemont: He is!

Ash: Alright, guys! Now time to head into the gym! (Pikachu agrees as they run up to the gym)

Lara: Wait for me! (Runs up after Ash and Pikachu)

Serena: Slow down, Ash.

Sherman: We need to stick together. (Buizel agrees as he, Sherman and Serena runs up, including Bonnie, Samantha, and Clemont)

Bonnie: I hope I get first!

Clemont: Wait up, you guys! I can’t run as fast as you all!

Then once we got up in that big tree, known as the Coumarine Gym, we saw a gardening house, along with a battlefield..

Ash: Guess I got first! (Pikachu agrees)

Bonnie: I got second! (Dedenne cheers)

Lara: I got third!

Samantha: Well, I got fourth.

Serena: I got fifth,

Sherman: Sixth. (Buizel agrees)

Clemont: (Got up to the scene, panting) And it looks like I got last.

Bonnie: You need to run more.

Clemont: (Looks at Bonnie, annoyed) You know, Bonnie! Running is not one of my “to do things” on my list!

Ash: (Looks at a battlefield) So this is the Coumarine Gym!

Sherman: Yeah, Ash. We know.

Lara: Do all gyms look like that?

Clemont: Not exactly. All gyms come in different shapes, sizes, and what kind of Pokemon the gym leader use.

Bonnie: Yep! My brother, Clemont, is an Electric-Type User, Ramos is the Grass-Type User, Viola is the Bug-Type User, Grant is the Rock-Type Gym Leader, and Korrina is the Fighting-Type User.

Samantha: What she’s saying is that many gyms have variety kind of environment depends on what gym and type they are, like a gallery, a wall to climb up, or a skating ring.

Lara: Wow! Clemont is one of the gym leaders?

Clemont: Yep, and I even got my gym back with the help of my friends and all.

Ramos: (Walks up to the group) Ah, you all finally came. (To Ash and Sherman) Say, whippersnappers. You two prepared?

Ash: You bet, Ramos, and we’ll get that gym badge from you!

Ramos: Hm, good. But before we start our battle, why don’t we have a tea break.

Sherman: But we came here for the battle, right?

Ramos: Of course, but first, you always calm your mind, that way you won’t have a lot of pressure during our gym battle, plus for you guys to learn about this gym and its environment.

Ash: (Sighs) I just want to have a gym battle now.

Ramos: No need to be in a hurry. Just walk up to the table near the books over there(Points to the table near the books) while I prepare tea for you all.

Lara: Thanks, Ramos! (Everyone walk up to the table before they sit down as Ramos makes tea for everyone, including himself, before walking up to the group with tea)

Ramos: Hope you all like it..

Bonnie: It’s tea time! (Dedenne agrees as everyone drink their tea) Yummy, it’s delicious!

Lara: I agree! I love it!

Samantha: I’m so relaxed right now!

Ramos: Thanks. Tea time is always relaxing, what you said a second ago, but it does calm your mind so you don’t have a lot of weight on your shoulders.

Ash: Thanks, Ramos. Now can we have a gym battle now?

Ramos: Well, I was thinking if you can all help me around the gym.

Ash: Really, but I want to have a gym battle!

Samantha: Ash, the gym battle isn’t going anywhere! Just shut up about it!

Sherman: And even if we want it now, we can learn a thing or two from him. (Buizel agree)

Ramos: They got a point. Like I said, Ash, no need to be in a hurry. (Looks at everyone) As I was saying, I would like all of you to help me water the garden and pick out berries. (Ash groans)

Lara: Of course I will help you out, Ramos!

Ramos: See, one of your friends volunteered, Ash.

Ash: (Sighs annoyingly) Fine!

Sherman: Is it alright if we have our Pokemon help you around here?

Ramos: Sure, they can help you. The more, the merrier.

(Then the goth girl who has black long hair, gray eyes, black eyeshadow, a skull piercing near her right eyebrow, spiked collar on her neck, a white tank-top with black zipped-up jacket with a skull, black short-shorts, and black boots spies on Ash and co. without them noticing)

Goth Girl: (talking to herself) Such a waste of space. (Walks away alone)

Then we let all of our Pokemon out as we help Ramos water the grass and plants while picking out berries. Okay, I know it’s a pain, like Ash thinks, but he needs to suck it up.

Sherman: (Looks at the berry hanging on a small tree near him) Hey, Ramos.

Ramos: Is something wrong?

Sherman: Do I have to be extremely cautious of pulling those berries out?

Ramos: Yes you do. Look closely. (Cut the right length of the stem that is hanging on to the berry) There. If you’re planning to use your Pokemon to cut the stem, feel free. You should have no worries.

Sherman: Thanks. (Then he finds a Chesto Berry as he nods to Grovyle before using Leaf Blade to cut the stem, getting a Chesto Berry)

Grovyle: (You know, I really like gardening!)

Sherman: Yeah, Ramos told us about calming our minds and learn about the environment.

Buizel: (Well, helping him on his side, especially not having a lot of weight on our shoulders.)

Sherman: Good point. (Then the sleepy Charmander keep on wobbling as he is not helping. He then accidentally lit the small tree on fire, but before that, Buizel pushed Sherman and Grovyle out of the way as the fire spreads around the small tree)

Buizel: (Oh my god!)

Sherman: Quick Buizel! Water Gun! (Buizel shoots out Water Gun at the burning small tree, extinguishing the fire as the small tree was burnt)

Ramos: (Shocked) Whoa, what happened, whippersnapper?!

Sherman: (Nervous) Look, Ramos! I’m really, really sorry for it! I’ll make it all up! I’ll replant it!

Ramos: Easy! Easy, whippersnapper. You’re overreacting. Just calm your mind and it’ll be fine. I do know your Charmander is getting sleepy and you have a Chesto Berry in your hand, right?

Sherman: (Looks at the Chesto Berry in his hand) Yeah. It can make the Pokemon wide awake. (Sighs) I should’ve given it to my Charmander earlier. I feel stupid!

Ramos: No need to be negative. Everyone makes mistakes. And don’t worry about the accident, I’ll replace it.

Sherman: (Sighs) Here you go, Charmander. (Gives the berry to Charmander as he eats it)

Charmander: (Thanks, Sherman.)

Sherman: No problem.

Ramos: That’s more like it.

Sherman: Now, Charmander. When we start our battle later, be alert, like I told you, okay? (Charmander nods as Ramos looks at Ash, who is violently pulling the weed out)

Ash: (Growls) I want to have a gym battle, now!

Ramos: What are you doing, Ash! Stop it! (Ash stops) You can’t be reckless. Watch me do this. (Kneels down, as he carefully pull the weeds out as the spread them out, revealing a lone leaf hanging) See, if you don’t calm your mind, you will lose of what sight is important.

Ash: (Thinks about what Ramos said) Oh, I understand.

Ramos: It’s fine, but just be careful, okay? (Ash nods)

Lara: (Holding an Oran Berry with her mouth) Hey, Ramos, I got a blue berry!

Ramos: Ah, so that’s an Oran Berry. You can have it!

Lara: Thanks! (Chews on her Oran Berry) Delicious!

Ramos: Yep! Berries that I’ve planted are really fresh and healthy; Unlike some products that makes it with chemicals and other stuff. (Sherman gets confused) Anyways, now that you two did a good job on helping me with my garden, including your friends and Pokemon, why don’t we start our gym battle!

Ash: Alright!

Ramos: But Ash, you were very impatient, not to mention being careless and not apologizing, which Sherman apologize for his Charmander’s actions. With that, I’ll battle Sherman first.

Sherman: You mean it?

Ramos: Of course. I know you’re somehow impatient, like Ash, but you understand of what’s going on and didn’t complain, so with that, you go first, and then I’ll battle Ash.

Ash: (Sighs) Listen. I’m sorry for my actions in here.

Ramos: It’s fine. But I won’t change my mind.

Ash: That’s fine with me. I’ll watch Sherman’s battle with you, and then we’re on.

Ramos: Sounds good! (Looks at Sherman) Are you ready, whippersnapper?

Sherman: Yeah…

Samantha: Good luck!

Serena: I know you can do it!

Clemont: We believe in you!

Bonnie: Go for it! (Dedenne cheers as Lara wags her tail in excitement and Sherman’s Pokemon looking at Sherman)

Sherman: Alright, let’s do it, Ramos.

Then Ramos and I get prepared, as well as all of my Pokemon as my friends and their Pokemon watch from the sidelines.

Ash: Goomy, when I’m up, I want you to watch my battle, okay? (Goomy nods yes)

Referee: The Coumarine City Gym Battle between Ramos, the Gym Leader and Sherman, the challenger, will begin soon. Each trainer will use 3 Pokemon, and the battle will be over when all the Pokemon on one side are unable to continue. Furthermore, only the challenger can switch out Pokemon.

Ramos: Hope you’re ready, whippersnapper. We’re gonna bloom up this battle! Now, Jumpluff! Out you go! (Sends Jumpluff out of its Poke Ball)

Samantha: Wow, a Jumpluff!

Bonnie: It’s so cute!

Lara: What does it do? (Samantha pulls up her PokeDex)

Samantha’s PokeDex: Jumpluff, the Cottonweed Pokémon. Jumpluff drifts around the world with the seasonal winds. It releases cottony spores as it travels.

Sherman: So, he’s using Jumpluff. (Nods to Charmander, who nods back before running up to the battlefield)

Sandile: (So, Charmander’s up.)

Buizel: (Yeah. I hope he stays awake during the battle.)

Lucario: (But he ate the Chesto Berry, right?)

Buizel: (Good point.)

Ash: That’s a good choice Sherman made.

Clemont: Right. Charmander is a Fire Type, who has an advantage against Jumpluff, who is a Grass and Flying Type. Also, Charmander’s present from Sherman, a Charcoal wristband, can boost Fire-Type moves like Ember!

Samantha: Thing is this is Charmander’s first gym battle.

Ash: Right, but we should wish him luck, as well as Sherman. (Everyone nod in agreement)

Lucario: *Puts his paw on his chest* (Good luck, guys…)

Referee: Battle Begin!

Sherman (Charmander + 2 Pokemon) vs. Ramos (Jumpluff + 2 Pokemon)

Sherman: Start this off with Rock Tomb! (Charmander summons the rocks as they fly towards Jumpluff)

Ramos: I’ve seen how Grant battled, and know how to overcome it! Jumpluff, Cotton Guard! (Jumpluff summons cotton around itself before getting hit by Rock Tomb)

Lara: Cotton Guard, what’s that?

Clemont: Cotton Guard is a move that raises its defense.

Samantha: Even if its defense rose, it still got attacked by Rock Tomb, right?

Clemont: Yeah, but Gym Leaders don’t let their guard down just because they’re at a disadvantage.

Ramos: He’s right. I may be at a disadvantage, but I’ll overcome your Charmander. Jumpluff, use Sunny Day! (Jumpluff activates Sunny Day, as the light glows around the battlefield)

Sherman: (Thinking) Are you trying to give me an advantage. (Sighs) Well, this is gonna be the fastest Gym Battle. (Shouts out) Use Ember! (Charmander shoots out Ember at Jumpluff)

Ramos: Dodge it! (Jumpluff quickly dodges as its ability, Chlorophyll, activates)

Sherman: (Shocked) I should’ve known! Chlorophyll!

Lara: Chlorophyll?

Clemont: Chlorophyll is an ability that raises Pokemon’s speed in sunny conditions during battles.

Ramos: That’s right! Jumpluff can move and dodge quickly in this sunny weather. So, what are you going to do now? (Sherman gets serious)

Ash: Oh man. This is going to be one of the toughest battle if Sherman’s not careful.

Buizel: (What are you talking about? He’ll beat Ramos!)

Samantha: I hope. Even though Jumpluff’s ability activated, Charmander’s Ember gets stronger because of Sunny Day.

Ash: Good point..

Ramos: Now Jumpluff! Use Acrobatics! (Jumpluff moves quickly as it charges towards Charmander, but it was too late to dodge as Charmander gets hit)

Sherman: Charmander, you okay?! (Charmander gets up as he nods to his trainer it’s fine) Use Rock Tomb! (Charmander shoots out Rock Tomb again)

Ramos: No matter how many times you use it, it still won’t work! Jumpluff, dodge and use Acrobatics again! (Jumpluff dodges Rock Tomb and slams Charmander with Acrobatics)

Sherman: Charmander, get up! (Charmander struggles to get up)

Ramos: Use Leech Seed! (Jumpluff shoots Leech Seed at Charmander)

Sherman: Use Ember, quick! (Charmander shoots out Ember, quickly, to destroy most of the Leech Seed, but one caught Charmander’s foot as it starts draining Charmander’s energy)

Serena: This is looking bad.

Samantha: I know, and if it keeps up, Charmander will be eliminated.

Sherman: Charmander, Scratch on the Leech Seed! (Charmander uses his claws to tear the Leech Seed that caught his foot, before he was finally free)

Ramos: Awesome strategy!

Sherman: (Looks at Charmander, who becomes burned out) You okay, Charmander?

Charmander: (Yeah. I know you gave me a Chesto Berry to keep me up, but I’m kinda burned out from battling. It’s getting trickier by the second.)

Sherman: You know, Charmander. You’re getting a break. Why don’t you watch the battle alongside Grovyle and Hawlucha.

Charmander: *Sighs* (I know you’re really concern about me, but okay. I’ll watch the battle until I’m ready.) *Walks out of the battlefield*

Sherman: Sorry about this, Charmander.

Charmander: (It’s cool. Like I said, I’ll watch, okay?)

Serena: So Charmander is taking the sidelines.

Clemont: Right. This can be tricky since Jumpluff knows Acrobatics and with the combination of Chlorophyll and Sunny Day.

Sherman: I know this is a tricky choice, but I have no other option left. (Looks at Grovyle) Grovyle, you’re up. (Grovyle nods as he walks up to the battlefield)

Ash: So Sherman sent out Grovyle.

Bonnie: Clemont, Grovyle is a Grass-Type, right?

Clemont: Yes, Bonnie. Everyone knows that, even from most Pokemon fans.

Samantha: But the problem is Acrobatics, a Flying-Type move. On the bright side, Grovyle has Aerial Ace, which is super-effective on Jumpluff.

Serena: Good point.

Ramos: Grass Type vs. Grass Type. This should be interesting!

Sherman: (Nods) Grovyle, Aerial Ace! (Grovyle activates Aerial Ace as he charges towards Jumpluff)

Ramos: Use Cotton Guard! (Jumpluff summons cotton around itself as Grovyle tackles it with Aerial Ace, damaging Jumpluff) Jumpluff, you okay? (Jumpluff nods yes) Now use Acrobatics! (Jumpluff uses Acrobatics on Grovyle)

Sherman: Concentrate and use Aerial Ace again! (Grovyle looks closely of how Jumpluff moves fast, thanks to Sunny Day and Chlorophyll, as he uses Aerial Ace, colliding Acrobatics, damaging both Pokemon)

Lara: Oh, wow! They’re not giving up!

Ash: Yeah. Both Grovyle and Jumpluff are weak to Flying-Type moves, as they know at least 1 Flying-Type move.

Samantha: Yeah, we know, Ash.

Ramos: That was an amazing strategy. You and your Grovyle really do care about each other.

Sherman: Um, thanks. I do care about my other Pokemon, you know that, right?

Ramos: Of course. Now, Jumpluff, use Acrobatics one more time! (Jumpluff uses Acrobatics)

Sherman: Stay strong and endure it, like be one with nature and calm yourself! (Grovyle endures Acrobatics as he stands strong, despite getting hit as he takes a few deep breaths, until Sunny Day is over as Grovyle opens his eyes) X-Scissors! (Grovyle slashes Jumpluff with X-Scissors at close range)

Ramos: Jumpluff, no!

Sherman: Finish it with Aerial Ace! (Grovyle finishes Jumpluff off with one more Aerial Ace, eliminating Jumpluff as it lies on the ground)

Referee: Jumpluff is unable to battle, Grovyle wins.

Ramos (2 Pokemon)

Sherman: Thanks, Grovyle. You’re doing great, (Grovyle nods at Sherman)

Charmander: (Excellent battle you did, Grovyle!)

Lara: Wow! He actually did it!

Ash: Yep! Sherman and his team are really strong! (Ash’s Pokemon agree)

Bonnie: Yep! They’re the best! (Dedenne agrees)

Ramos: (Send Jumpluff back into its Poke Ball) Nice work, Jumpluff. Thanks. (Looks at Sherman) That was excellent, Sherman. Now let’s see if you can deal with my next Pokemon. Weepinbell, come on out! (Sends Weepinbell out of its Poke Ball)

Ash: So Ramos has a Weepinbell. (Pulls up his PokeDex)

Ash’s PokeDex: Weepinbell, the Flycatcher Pokémon. Weepinbell looks like a plant and covers opponents with a poisonous powder in order to catch them.

Sherman: It’s a Grass and Poison Type. It’s too risky to keep Grovyle in the battle to fight Weepinbell. Grovyle, take the sidelines.

Clemont: I thought Grovyle has Aerial Ace. Why did Sherman pull Grovyle out of the battle?

Samantha: I don’t know, he could’ve use Grovyle on all the battles and win this.

Ash: Don’t count on it. I’ve done it before during my battle against the Unova Gym Leader, Elesa with my Palpitoad. I would be lucky if I use my Palpitoad and win all the battles with him, but it didn’t go the way I want after her Emolga defeated him.

Samantha: Have you made any backups?

Ash: I wish I could use my Boldore, back then a Roggenrola, but I was too stupid to bring Snivy in since my Unova traveling companion, Iris, caught Emolga way before we got to Nimbasa City. (Looks at Pikachu) Oh yeah, and you snapped me out of my breaking point, Pikachu. (Pikachu nods) We managed to defeat her Emolga and Tynamo before got ourselves a Bolt Badge.

Serena: Now you get to witness some of the battles Sherman has before you battle them.

Ash: True, though the one thing I hate the most is people who copies someone’s strategy and use it as their own.

Clemont: That’s true. Other than that, Sherman’s doing really great, overcoming someone’s strategy and lots of hard work!

Bonnie: Right!

Sherman: Hawlucha, you’re up. (Sherman’s Hawlucha nods at his trainer as he runs up to the battlefield. Ash’s Hawlucha and Pearl are cheering for their oldest family member and wishing him luck)

Bonnie: Why Hawlucha?

Clemont: I think Sherman made a smart decision, since Hawlucha is a Fighting-and-Flying Type. He might deal with Poison Type moves, but not as severe as what Grovyle will get.

Ash: Well, it doesn’t matter whether you’re at an advantage or not, what matters is overcoming the odds.

Ramos: Now let’s get ready, shall we? Weepinbell, use Poison Powder! (Weepinbell breathes out Poison Powder at Sherman’s Hawlucha)

Sherman: Detect! (Sherman’s Hawlucha quickly uses Detect as he is protected from Weepinbell’s Poison Powder)

Clemont: Oh, wow! That’s really smart!

Lara: Sherman's Hawlucha is not poisoned! Amazing!

Ramos: Use Slam! (Weepinbell charges towards Sherman's Hawlucha)

Sherman: Aerial Ace! (Sherman's Hawlucha uses Aerial Ace as he collides into Weepinbell)

Ramos: (Smirks) Now Poison Powder at close range! (Weepinbell unleashes Poison Powder, poisoning Sherman's Hawlucha)

Sherman: Oh no! Hawlucha! (Sherman’s Pokemon, Ash’s Hawlucha, and Pearl are shocked)

Pearl: (Cousin, what’s gonna happen to our older brother?)

Ash’s Hawlucha: (Don’t worry, Pearl. My brother will be fine! I’m sure of it!)

Samantha: That’s crazy, using one of the moves to lure Sherman's Hawlucha in so that he can get poisoned!

Ash: Oh, wow! He’s good. (Ash’s Pokemon agree)

Sherman: Hawlucha, are you still able to battle? (Sherman’s Hawlucha looks at Sherman and nods yes) Use Aerial Ace! (Sherman's Hawlucha unleashes Aerial Ace again)

Ramos: You can use Aerial Ace all you want, but I can cut through! Weepinbell, grab Hawlucha and use Slam! (Weepinbell grabs Sherman's Hawlucha at close range and uses Slam, slamming him down)Now use Grass Knot! (Weepinbell summons Grass Knot, trapping Sherman’s Hawlucha as he takes damage from the poison status)

Lara: Oh man. If this keeps up, Sherman’s Hawlucha would be defeated!

Samantha: And that would be the first battle he will lose.

Ramos: Now use Razor Leaf! (Weepinbell shoots out Razor Leaf)

Sherman: Detect! (Sherman's Hawlucha quickly uses Detect as he is protected from Razor Leaf, but after that Weepinbell was close to Sherman’s Hawlucha)

Ramos: Now use Slam!

Sherman: High Jump Kick! (Thankfully, Sherman's Hawlucha’s legs weren’t tied up by Grass Knot as he kicks Weepinbell in the face, before Sherman's Hawlucha freed himself from Grass Knot) Aerial Ace one more time!

Ramos: Slam, Weepinbell! (Both Sherman’s Hawlucha and Weepinbell slam their moves at each other one more time, until they both are hit severely. Sherman's Hawlucha and Weepinbell pant as they struggle to get up. That is, until Weepinbell finally faints)

Referee: Weepinbell is unable to battle. Hawlucha wins!

Ramos: (1 Pokemon)

Pearl: *Sighs* (He did it.)

Ash’s Hawlucha: (See? I knew my brother would be fine.)

Pearl: (But you’re gonna have a battle with that Weepinbell and the other 2, right?)

Ash’s Hawlucha: (Of course, Pearl. Just because my brother made it through with Weepinbell, doesn’t mean I’m gonna let my guard down. Plus, Ash trained me and the others up for it.)

Pearl: (Good point.)

Samantha: That’s another win!

Ash: Yep! Just one more Pokemon and Sherman wins!

Clemont: It’s now time for his ace Pokemon. (Sherman and Buizel nod at Sherman's Hawlucha, who nods back)

Ramos: (Returns his Weepinbell) Excellent work, Weepinbell. Take a good rest. (Looks at Sherman) That was a nice comeback, whippersnapper. This is one battle we won’t forget, and here is my Gogoat! (Sends Gogoat out of his Poke Ball)

Serena: You’re right, Clemont. Gogoat is Ramos’ last Pokemon.

Clemont: He is quite a thorny opponent.

Ash: Right.

Sherman: Hawlucha, you need to take a break. (Sherman's Hawlucha walks back and ask him why) Listen, I don’t want you to get poisoned. (Sherman's Hawlucha annoyingly points to the purple on him) I know. (Pulls out a Pecha Berry) Here. Ramos gave this to me when we’re helping him with the garden a while ago. (Sherman’s Hawlucha thanks his trainer before eating the berry, curing the poison. Then, the flashback occur that after Sherman apologize to Ramos, he gives him a Pecha Berry before the battle)

Charmander: (Wow. Berries are helpful. Anyways, you were great, Hawlucha!)

Sherman's Hawlucha: (Thanks.)

Ramos: See? Berries do come in handy. Now are you going to bring in Grovyle or Charmander.

Sherman: (Sighs) This is going to be risky. (Looks at Charmander) Charmander. (Charmander looks at Sherman) Since Grovyle and Hawlucha won the battle, I think you should too. I know I had to pull you out because of what happened, but I want to make sure if you’re able to, if you want.

Charmander: (Hey, I’ll take care of Gogoat...I mean, we’ll take care of Gogoat! If Grovyle pass through Jumpluff and your Hawlucha beat Weepinbell, I’ll manage to beat Gogoat! Time to fight Grass with Fire.)

Buizel: (You mean Fire with Fire.)

Charmander: (But Gogoat is a Grass-Type, correct? So I said Grass with Fire.)

Buizel: (Good point.)

Grovyle: (That’s the fiery spirit!)

Sherman: So, are you in?

Charmander: (Definitely!) *Runs up to the battlefield*

Serena: We’ll have to see how Charmander will do.

Clemont: Right. Grovyle had to take his place and defeated Jumpluff as Hawlucha defeated Weepinbell. So now, it’s time for Charmander to get focused.

Sherman: Alright, Charmander! Use Ember! (Charmander shoots out Ember at Gogoat)

Ramos: Gogoat, Vine Whip! (Gogoat summons vines out of its back as it destroys Ember)

Samantha: No way!

Bonnie: I thought Grass-Type Pokemon have a disadvantage against Fire-Types!

Clemont: True, but that doesn’t mean they can’t block it, even if it’s at a disadvantage.

Ash: Good point.

Sherman: Rock Tomb! (Charmander summons Rock Tomb as they fly towards Gogoat)

Ramos: Gogoat, use Razor Leaf! (Gogoat summons Razor Leaf as they destroy Rock Tomb) Now Razor Leaf around you! (Gogoat summons Razor Leaf around itself as it disappears in it)

Sherman: Ember! (Charmander shoots out Ember, but it was too late as Razor Leaf was cleared up, with no sight of Gogoat. Charmander has to look around for Gogoat)

Ramos: Horn Leech! (Gogoat, from the above, unleashes Horn Leech, hitting Charmander as Gogoat heals itself, even though it has full HP)

Sherman: They’re good.

Lara: That’s what Horn Leech is?

Clemont: Yes. Horn Leech is a Grass-Type Physical Move.

Samantha: Whenever the user attacks its opponent with it, it gain its lost HP back.

Clemont: Right. Think of it as Mega Drain or Giga Drain.

Bonnie: What?! No fair! Gogoat has full HP!

Ramos: Leech Seed if you don’t mind. (Gogoat shoots out Leech Seed, as Sherman was too late to act as Leech Seed took effect, trapping Charmander completely and have his mouth shut)

Sherman: Charmander! (Sherman’s Pokemon were in shock)

Ramos: Looks like you can’t use Ember that way. (Gogoat walks up to Ramos as Ramos pets its horns, as it glows) I see. It was quite an easy battle, despite the type disadvantage. Now why don’t you use Vine Whip! (Gogoat summons Vine Whip again as it whips Charmander in the face)

Sandile: (Man, this is looking so bad, that I have no words for it.)

Lucario: (Please, Sherman. Charmander. Beat Ramos.)

Buizel: (Don’t worry, Lucario. The two of them will overcome Ramos! I’m sure of it!)

Sandile: (Definitely. This is one of the obstacles that Sherman will overcome!)

Lucario: (I hope…)

Sherman: (Sees Gogoat stop using Vine Whip on Charmander, as it becomes weaker) Charmander, try to use Scratch! (Charmander tries to use Scratch, but thanks to the roots trapping his arms, he couldn’t) (Talks to himself) Calm yourself, Sherman. Don’t put a lot of weight on your shoulders.

Ramos: (Pets Gogoat’s horns, glowing) Looks like your Charmander will be defeated in a few seconds. Gogoat, use one more Horn Leech! (Gogoat runs by as it uses Horn Leech, but it stops as a miracle happened.)

Sherman: No way! (Yes. Charmander’s Ability, Blaze, activates)

Charmander: *Muffled by the roots* (I may be beaten many times! Grovyle beat Jumpluff! Sherman’s Hawlucha beats Weepinbell, and I WILL BEAT GOGOAT! I WILL MAKE SURE SHERMAN, HIS TEAM, AND WIN!!!)(Then Charmander starts to glow in blue as he changes form)

Lara: Look at Charmander!

Ash: Yeah, he’s evolving!

Samantha: Right!

Sherman: He would soon to be…. (Then once Charmander is done evolving, he is now a Charmeleon as the tip of his tail burns the roots, as he got the roots out of his mouth as he bites on it while his teeth is on fire, biting the roots before Charmeleon is finally freed) a Charmeleon as he learned Fire Fang. (Pulls up his PokeDex)

Sherman’s PokeDex: Charmeleon, The Flame Pokemon, and the evolved form of Charmander. Charmeleon lashes about with its tail to knock down its foe. It then tears up the fallen opponent with sharp claws.

Charmeleon: *Walks up to Sherman* (See that, Sherman! I evolved! And I learned Fire Fang!)

Sherman: Good for you. Congrats, but we still have a gym battle to take care of.

Charmeleon: (Right! I’m all fired up! I’m gonna ace this battle!)

Ramos: (Pets Gogoat’s horns) I see that you’re fired up too. I’m fired up as well! Use Razor Leaf around yourself once more! (Gogoat summons Razor Leaf around itself)

Sherman: Charmeleon, get into it, now! (Charmeleon runs up into the Razor Leaf as he doesn’t see Gogoat anywhere while being trapped into a Razor Leaf prison as Charmeleon gets hit by Razor Leaf multiple times as he endures the pain)

Ramos: You can actually dodge, but you can’t hide. (Then Charmeleon sees a silhouette of Gogoat as he remembers the lesson form Ramos about accidentally burning a small tree a few hours ago.)

Charmeleon: (Sherman. This might be crazy, but I have a wicked plan! And it’s another new move!)

Sherman: (Looks up his PokeDex for Charmeleon’s second new move as he remembers about his Charmeleon accidentally burning one of Ramos’ small tree. This gave Sherman an idea) I know what you’re talking about! Use Flame Burst! (Charmeleon shoots out a new move, Flame Burst, spreading fire around the Razor Leaf prison, severely injuring Gogoat inside)

Ramos: NO WAY!

Serena: Awesome!

Ash: Great job, you guys!

Clemont: Flame Burst is a Fire-Type Special Move that hits the opponent, as it burns their teammate next to it.

Samantha: That’s what I was going to say! Gotta enjoy the Wild Gogoat’s Razor Leaf Fire. Created by Sherman’s Charmeleon. (Unknown to everyone, Lucario crouches down as he puts his paws over his head in fear while he remembered what happened in his battle with Grant and Korrina twice)

Buizel: *Looks at Lucario* (Lucario, are you okay?)

Lucario: (….That……scene…..) *Buizel looks at the battle*

Buizel: (Lucario, it’s going to be just fine.)

Lucario: (I hope this ends…)

Buizel: (Don’t worry. Sherman will win. No doubt.) *Lucario feels unsure. Sure, he wanted Sherman to win, but that kind of strategy he and his Charmeleon created bring chills down Lucario’s spine*

Ramos: Gogoat, get out of there and use Horn Leech, now!

Sherman: Smokescreen! (Charmeleon shoots out Smokescreen before a burnt Gogoat runs into the fiery scene, but he can’t see as he misses the attack)

Ramos: Gogoat, whip all the smoke away with Vine Whip! (Gogoat summons its vines as it blows all the smoke away, as well as the fiery Razor Leaf dies down. That is, until Charmeleon is missing, until Gogoat spots Charmeleon above it)

Sherman: Fire Fang!

Ramos: Horn Leech! (Gogoat and Charmeleon unleash their moves one more time as they both take damage. In a few seconds, Charmeleon overcomes and hits Gogoat, before Gogoat finally faints)

Referee: Gogoat is unable to battle. The winner is Charmeleon! Which means the victor goes to Sherman, the challenger!

Winner: Sherman

Bonnie/Lara: Alright! He did it!

Clemont: They’ve beaten Ramos!

Ash: Awesome Job! (Pikachu and Ash’s Pokemon agree)

Serena: That was one fiery battle!

Samantha: For sure!

Ramos: (Walks up to pet Gogoat’s horns) You did amazing Gogoat. Thank you. (Returns Gogoat back into its Poke Ball)

Charmeleon: (Well, looks like I burned through the gym battle!)

Sherman: Sure did. You did great.

Grovyle: (You were fantastic!)

Hawlucha: (You did a good job.) *Then Buizel, and Sandile came by, clapping to the 4 as Lucario came by as well, feeling worried, but hides his emotion so the others wouldn’t know*

Buizel: (Wonderful job, you all!)

Lucario: (You had me worried.) *Buizel feels skeptical as he looks at Lucario*

Sandile: (But you knocked the ball out of the park!)

Bonnie: You were fascinating, Sherman!

Serena: Awesome job!

Clemont: Excellent work!

Ash: You were awesome, Sherman!

Lara: Congratulations!

Sherman: Thanks.

Ramos: (Walks up to Sherman) Well done, Sherman. That was one of the best battles I’ve ever had. Tell me, what have you learn between the battle and our activity we did?

Sherman: Well, I remembered my Charmeleon accidentally burning your bush, though I apologized. That was our inspiration and blaze up your Razor Leaf. We also learned to be calm and patient, as well as not putting a lot of weight on our shoulders.

Charmeleon: (Yep. I took the sidelines in order to be focus and rooting for Grovyle and Hawlucha, not to mention I want to help my trainer achieve his dream!)

Buizel: (We do too, Charmeleon. We all do too!)

Ramos: (Sees a referee holding a Plant Badge) As a victor of beating me here at the Coumarine Gym, I present you the Plant Badge.

Sherman: Thanks. (Receives a Plant Badge and puts it in his Badge Case) 4 more to go.

Ramos: And by the way, since you’re all traveling together, I’ll give you your second prize after I have a battle with Ash!

Ash: I’m so psyched now! I’ll defeat your Pokemon and get my Plant Badge!

Ramos: We’ll see about that! Before we do, I’m going to heal up my Pokemon before we start. (Heads off)

Sherman: Well, I’m going to the Pokemon Center to heal up my Pokemon.

Samantha: I’m going too, just to look out for you.

Ash: We’ll stay here and wait for Ramos.

Clemont: Don’t take too long. (Then Samantha, Sherman, and his Pokemon leave the gym)

After I beaten Ramos with my Grovyle, Hawlucha, and my newly-evolved Charmeleon, we received out 4^th Gym, the Plant Badge. After Ash gets his, we’ll see Serena and Sam in their 2^nd Showcase, and head on to Lumiose City sometimes soon.

(Later, the same goth girl from before is relaxing on the side of the wall of the building as she is listening to her music on her phone and earplugs, as she is about to open up her potato chips, until she spots Sherman, his Pokemon, and Samantha heading to the Pokemon Center before they got in, without noticing the goth girl)

Goth Girl: (Remembers spying on Ash and co. at the gym a while ago as Ash groans in agony of wanting to have a battle instantly. The goth girl clenches her fist that the potato chip bag from her right hand pops as she growls angrily) We are gonna have a long talk soon. Oh yes. A very long talk.
